![]() ![]() If the laptop has a SSD there is likely, considering its age, no reliable way to erase private data other than destroying the SSD itself. DBAN should likely boot fine on your laptop. A single pass erase should probably suffice for most situations but you can do more depending on how confidential the information on the laptop is. You can then boot the laptop from that and instruct DBAN to erase the hard disk. You'll either have to burn that as image to a CD, if the laptop can boot from that, or write it to a USB thumb drive with a tool like. Just click the download DBAN link at top right of the page. If this laptop has an old fashioned hard disk and not a SSD, you can reliably erase any and all private data with DBAN.
